Over the past 10 years, 67 houses have sold in the 180-acre Spruce Meadows development in Broomfield. Today, four lots remain, and one house that’s still under construction just went on the market.
The five-bedroom, seven-bath house comes with a $1.995 million sticker price.
Flatiron Development and Custom Homes, the builder of this as well as others in the community, has created a 7,398-square-foot house that blends style with function on a 1.29-acre lot.
A dramatic spiral staircase welcomes visitors at the entryway of 2526 Spruce Meadows Drive. Cedar beams, a barn-style cathedral ceiling and hickory hardwood floors set a warm tone for the house’s interior. A three-story turret gives it the feeling of a castle.
In addition to a mudroom with a dog shower and water fountain, the house has a kitchen with a second island that can be used for a homework station.
The house’s linear fireplace, long and skinny, is a current style in custom homes, according to Bonnie Peterson, a broker with Keller Williams Preferred Realty, who is listing the property.
“People are going for a more modern look in custom homes these days — light and bright.”
In line with that look, the completed kitchen will be white with white Shaker cabinets and a white marble island. It also will be equipped with high-end Thermador appliances.
“Most all of the bedrooms have en-suite baths,” she said. “You don’t see the Jack and Jill baths so much anymore.”
People are looking for more outdoor living space, she said. This house grants the wish with a built-in barbecue, outdoor refrigerator and fireplace.
Another feature of the property is separate access to what can be used as an office, an added appeal to home-based entrepreneurs.
“There really are only a couple of homes like this in this price range in the Broomfield area,” Peterson said.
